PS/SS:CH1:QUESTIONS AND ODDITIES

Just some questions I have about Chapter One:

1. Dumbledore's too "noble" to use the dark powers that Voldemort uses. Has Dumbledore learned them? Has he ever used them in the past?
2. What's the purpose of Dumbledore's 12-handed watch? Is it for Divination of any sort? Does it tell Dumbledore where certain people are? From http://phrontistery.info/a.html, I found this -- albion, a "medieval astronomical device for finding positions of planets". I always thought Albion was just a reference to England, and that it comes from a word for "white". These definitions are also true, however the astronomical device definition sounds intruiging!
3. What was the wording of the letter Dumbledore gave to Petunia Dursely when he left Harry on the porch?
4. Kent, Yorkshire, and Dundee... saw a "downpour of shooting stars". Exactly when did this happen...Halloween night about the time the Potters were attacked...or later the next day? (I don't like McGonagall's assumptions about Dedalus Diggle...besides that would only acount for Kent!) Were they celebrations or signals? It's hard to see Dundee in the left-hand pic below, but it's this tiny black speck on the east coast of Scotland....
5. Hagrid says he flew over Bristol (and we later find out the Dursleys live in Surrey), so where is Godric's Hollow? Wales? Below, the pic on the right shows where Surrey is.
6. How did Hagrid get to Harry (since we later find out there was a Fidelius Charm)?
7. How was Dumbledore (and others) notified about the attack on the Potters just after it happened on Oct. 31, 1981? Was there a sensor of some sort located at the Potters' house? Was someone on Dumbledore's side present during the attack? Was James or Lily somehow able to send a message to Dumbledore before they were killed (Patronus message, perhaps)?
8. So, Harry will have this scar as long as he lives. How will it come in handy...besides turning out to be a dark detector of sorts...or is that all it's good for?
9. How did Dumbledore end up with a scar that looks just like a map of the London Underground? Is there any significance to it being above the left knee, or is JKR just having fun with the allusion to Ullyses?
10. Where does Hagrid return the motorcycle to Sirius?
